Welcome to November, guys! (Okay, it’s still October 31st when I’m writing this but it’s almost over so NOVEMBER!)

We’re officially in the month before Christmas so I can imagine everyone is focused on that! I’ve already seen crowds starting their gift shopping!

At least if they done now, I won’t have to deal with them next month. While everyone is focusing on ‘normal’ gifts, I’m laser-focused on all the fandom goodies coming out this November!

So. Much. Stuff!

This is only a smidge of what is out there right now. I’m even tempted to do a Part 2!

I’ve done my best to pick out a few different fandoms that I love and would personally buy. I think that’s super important when you do a gift guide. Unless you wouldn’t buy what you show for yourself, then I wouldn’t put in a recommendations post.

Look at these Weasley siblings! They look so pretty! I’m going to try and find the Ron to buy with these but I need all the Weasleys in my life. I wish they would bring out a Charlie or a Percy too!

Goblet of Fire is the theme of this Potter year so I’m super happy that a few new Yule Ball Funko Pops are being released.

We have these guys as well as Professor McGonagall, Snape, Padma and Parvati Patil and Cho Chang.

Nimbus 2000 Limited Broom

If you’ve ever wanted to be a Quidditch player (check out Rodney aka KwikSpellCo as one!) and you have money to spare, then this limited edition broom is coming! I wish I wasn’t super clumsy and broke or I would have totally gotten this to pop on my wall!

It’s so cool!

Definitely a talking point!

13th doctor with goggles

Anything with Jodie’s 13th Doctor would be incredible to get! The scene where she is creating her sonic screw driver is such a fun one to watch and a look! I’ve seen so many people cosplaying this outfit so yay for a Funko version!

Reverse the Polarity 3D T-Shirt

MCM Comic Con was last week and a bunch of exclusive goodies were released there! One of them happened to be this t-shirt.

The coolest out there!

Embrace your 10th Doctor with the 3D glasses that come with the top so you can see all the front design in all its glory!

13th Doctor Rainbow Scarf

Another exclusive (this time with Forbidden Planet) is the Doctor’s rainbow scarf from the Christmas Special! I’ve been wanting this ever since I saw the promo picture with it in! Blue doesn’t even suit me but this scarf would literally suit anyone!

We all know how cold winter is going to get so treat yourself to this when it’s released…today!!

Run, Whovians! RUN! (I am!)

The Art of Star Wars Jedi: fallen order

Wow, November is really out with all the exclusives and limited editions!

You can’t deny that Star Wars looks breath-taking with all the special effects. This book is based off the video-game ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order‘. You get to follow Cal’s quest to rebuild what was the Jedi Order, see him try to learn the ways of the Fore and more!

The game itself is being released on November 15th on PC, Xbox One and PS4!

Star Wars: Spark of the Resistance

With Star Wars: Rise of the Skywalker coming out next month, we obviously need something to keep us going until the film comes out! That’s when this YA novel comes in with Rey, Poe and Rose!

When a distress plea goes up from the isolated planet Minfar, Resistance heroes Rey, Poe, and Rose hear the call! Together they will face down a First Order battalion, terrifying flying creatures, and a weapon that could change the course of the war!

obi wan 20th anniversary figure

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since The Phantom Menance came out?! I feel so cold! I remember the day when I first saw Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan and he was cute and Anakin looked adorable!

We even had a super young Natalie Portman!

Now we get this special figure to commerate the 20th anniversary!

Cinderella’s Castle: Build the Fairytale

I love building things like this especially when they’re 3D and they’re Disney! Disney models are so fun to make! I haven’t had the chance to do them recently so the look of Cinderella’s castle looks awesome!

You get push-out characters to add too!

Perfect for a little prince/princess!

entertaining with disney

This book may have come out a few months ago but now it’s in hardcover!!

If you’ve ever wanted to create some sort of Disney-themed event such as a birthday party, an afternoon tea or even a baby shower, then this book has everything! It gives you ideas about designing the invitations, planning meals, decorating the space and more!

Now I really want a Disney party! Anyone?

Art of Hand Lettering

This is one for Disney fans who also have bullet journals or love calligraphy! I’ve always wanted to figure out how to write fancy letters for my journal. You know, with the titles and everything. I’ve seen so many talented people creating them that I want to figure it out.

What better way to learn how to write this way than by writing some beautiful Disney quotes!

I hope there is something from The Lion King or even Beauty and the Beast (possibility since Belle is on the cover! Haha!)

What is on your fandom list for November?

Review | Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: The Journey

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw a text yesterday saying that my order for ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: The Journey‘ had arrived! It was 3 days early! I’ve never had a book come this early before.

Waterstones, are you secretly wizards?

I’ve been a massive fan of all things Cursed Child since I saw a preview performance back in June 2016! I was in awe from the very first moment Jamie Parker appeared as Harry and remained after falling for the friendship (and romance…shhh) between Albus and Scorpius!

Everything you’ve wanted to know about the play, you’ll find inside this book.

They don’t spoil any of the magic that they do on stage which is very much appreciated but I do love hearing all the stories. Right at the beginning I was really interested in the early notes of John Tiffany and Sonia Friedman.

I was trying to squint at the writing to see if I can spot anything else.

One of the big questions I had when I saw the play first was ‘where was Teddy Lupin’? He was Harry’s god-son so you’d expect him to be involved with the family. According toJack Thorne, he said:

Teddy’s an amazing character…but we realized that we just couldn’t do service to him. Every character you use, you’ve got to use them properly.

He even said that Hugo wasn’t with his parents because he was probably being watched by Molly. It’s sad that he was the only one of the Granger-Weasley kids not to be included at all but I guess there must have been a reason.

When I saw that there was this page about the wands, I gave a little squeal!!

I’ve been wanting to know the meaning behind their designs for ages and now we get a look into all the tiny details. As you can see from Scorpius’ wand in my picture, it has little marks on the handle.

Apparently, since the wand is an extension of him, the marks are meant to the marks of his soul counting down the days until he could go to Hogwarts or even a form of self-harming. Scorpius!! *sob* With Albus’ wand, the bumps on his wand are almost like worry stones. He can rub his fingers over them to keep him self calm.

You know Scorpius’ hair?

Well, the wig is actually made of epiler hair (the white hairs taken away from natural grey hair). Since any Scorpius actor would have taken a dip at some point and there is chlorine in the water, the wig would get damaged so they needed ‘unprocessed hair’. It’s the most expensive wig out of the cast!

Anthony even wanted to wear uncomfortable shoes so he could feel as out of place as Scorpius felt.

Albus got the chance to be like his Uncle Ron since Sam came up with the idea that he would get James’ hand-me-downs. That’s why his clothes look a little too big for him. Sam said he wanted them to be a bit heavy and bulky to show that he isn’t his own person. His costumes start to change as the play goes on to show that he is changing as a person!

Talking of changes, did you know that any actor who plays Harry has 4 suits to wear?

He has a different one depending on the illusion he’s about to do. He has wand holsters, wand pockets and even the pockets in his trousers to hold his wand. I guess Mad-Eye didn’t warn him enough!

Do you love the robes that the cast wear?

Me too!! They’re actually designed to be a little like school blazers/blazer cloaks! They’ve got the collars and lapels but then have the sleeves of a robe and long at the back! They’ve even got their own personality depending on the character!

Karl Jenkins is quite trendy, and he wears skinny jeans and trainers. Yann Fredericks is very slender and a bit snobbish. He’s very neat, and a bit like Scorpius. Craig Bowker is quite lovable and cute, and he’s got baggy trousers and shoes that were clearly bought by his mum.

I know quite a few people haven’t seen the play yet so I’ve tried not to spoil anything serious, but I hope you liked my review all the same! If you want me to go detailed and make a spoiler review, then let me know in the comments! I have a lot to say still and there are loads of pictures I could include!

It was great to see some of my favourite ensemble such as James Phoon, Annabel Baldwin (She was awesome!), Tom Mackley (still gutted that I never saw his Albus!), James Le Lacheur and Barry McCarthy!

Have you pre-ordered ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ book?

My Top 5 Herbal Teas For Autumn/Winter | Blogtober 2019

herbal teas

It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, I always drink one of my herbal teas.

Yes, that’s right. I even drink of these teas during the heatwave this summer. I think I’m a little sane…but they were so good!

Now that the weather is much colder and I need to keep warm without putting on my heating, I will grab one of these five herbal teas from my cupboard! If I could, I would literally have a cupboard full of only tea. I might even do that at some point, but these are the ones I love to drink either daily or every few days.

Heath & Heather Organic Night Time

This tea is a new one to my cupboard and I think I saw Lea Michelle on Instagram using Heath & Heather so I decided to try. My sleep schedule is beyond shattered. I try to go to bed early but my mind refuses to turn off, leaving me to be up during the night. I’ve tried a few chamomile teas over the years but haven’t managed to find one that I liked.

This one is really good! It’s not too strong and is perfect for getting me ready for bed. It’s not a miracle worker for my sleep but it does help.

Pukka Feel New Organic Tea

Pukka is such an awesome brand! They make seriously yummy teas and I’ve been drinking them for years.  This is another new tea and I discovered this after watching Niomi Smart! She mentioned the Feel New tea in one of her vlogs and I was curious. I managed to find it in my local Boots and I’ve fallen in love!

This contains fennel, organic aniseed, cardamom, turmeric, coriander and licorice root.

Yum, right?! I hate licorice usually but you can’t taste it and I adore aniseed so win-win!

Pukka Vanilla Chai Tea

Another Pukka tea that I think is perfect for this time of year is the Vanilla Chai.

I discovered chai last year after drinking some in a vegan cafe and I was actually pleasantly surprised that I liked it. I had always thought that chai would taste nasty but far from it. It’s actually like the Feel New as it had the cardamom, fennel and licorice. It also has ginger and cinnamon!

A seriously warming drink when it’s freezing cold out there!

Twinings Superblends (Detox)

This, out of all my herbal teas, is one I can only drink every now and again.

It isn’t that it’s nasty but, personally, it’s strong! I was looking for other ways to detox my body a little and came across this in Tesco. I’ve been drinking lemon water every morning for a while and, when I saw this had lemon, I wanted to try.

Since it’s flu season, I wanted to have something that could help my immune system. In this little tea, it contains burdock root, fennel, ginger and added selenium. It’s a whopper!

Tetley Decaf Green Tea

The final tea in my top five is this Tetley Green tea! I faithfully drink this with my porridge every morning and it’s a lovely part of my routine. I wanted to have the decaf version because caffeine doesn’t sit well with me for some reason.

It’s just enough to make me feel better!

What herbal teas do you love to drink?

What Does Depression Feel Like? | Blogtober 2019

Photo by Camila Quintero Franco on Unsplash

One question I hear and see online is: what does depression feel like?

I bet you’ve had times when your loved ones and/or friends have seen that you’re not yourself or curious as to why you can’t go out. They try to help by saying that it’s just a bad day and to distract yourself, but it’s not as easy as that. I’ve seen comics raising this by saying you wouldn’t say that to someone with a physical illness or injury.

“Oh, it’s just a broken leg. Try to walk off.”

“Oh, you’re having a hypo? Don’t worry…just smile.”

It’s so silly but situations like this happen to anyone who suffers with a mental health illness. We shouldn’t be seen as ‘crazy’ people just because history deemed us as that.

You guys know I love my gifs and use them to communicate my feelings. I’ve honestly been horrified to see the gifs suggested on Twitter. Thankfully most of the triggering ones have been removed. I used to see people pretending to take their own life from TV shows and almost parodying someone with mental health.

Is this their answer to what depression feels like?

You know that moment when you were little when you lost your mum and panicked?

Imagine that panic in your chest and literally filling you all the way to the top, crushing you and leaving you unable to move. That’s only the start.

This morning I woke up crying. My body feel as it had the heaviest weight hanging off it and negative thoughts running through my head over and over: You’re fat! You can’t even get out of bed, you lazy cow! What’s the point in being alive? No-one would even miss me if I did die. You’re hopeless and worthless! You haven’t got a job, you keeping crying about how unfair your mind is and there are people really struggling.

My trigger was being weighed yesterday and finding that I’d put on 3lb.

For someone not struggling, they may a little put off or frustrated but would be able to carry on. As for me? I literally feel like a whale. I’m constantly prodding at the fat around my middle and my thighs. I can’t look in the mirror without seeing a double chin.

It’s an illness. It’s like you have the worst flu ever, causing you to ache, tremble, wish that there was someone there to hold you and say it’ll pass.

Depression affects people differently and it doesn’t mean that you’re struggling all the time. We can smile, we can laugh, we’re utterly normal. Please don’t doubt us or force us to move. Just sit there, listen and we’ll talk when we can.

Whatever you’re going through, call the samaritans free any time, from any phone, on 116 123.

What does depression feel like to you?

Review | The Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

Holly Jackson

The case is closed.

Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by Sal Singh. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it.

But having grown up in the same small town that was consumed by the murder, Pippa Fitz-Amobi isn’t so sure. When she chooses the case as the topic of her final-year project, she starts to uncover secrets that someone in town desperately wants to stay hidden. And if the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?

Anyone who knows me (or have had me comment on one of their book reviews) will know that I’m not a massive fan of crime novels. It isn’t that the books aren’t good! They probably are best-sellers but it’s not a genre that I connect with.

That was until I started reading ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder‘ by Holly Jackson!

Almost immediately my attention was hooked!

You don’t jump right into the thick of things. You’re met with a Candidate Proposal for a project and it totally brought me back to when I was at school and had to do a similar thing. The only negative about this was that the text was super tiny and I actually had trouble reading what was written. I don’t need glasses to read, but even I would need some for this!

Looking at the story itself, I cannot believe that this is Holly Jackson’s debut novel! If I didn’t know better, I would have thought she’d written many books! I related a lot to her main character Pippa in terms of being rather serious.

She was always doing homework and having to get to the bottom of a problem.

As a kid, I tended to research way too much when it came to projects so I totally get her dedication to getting things right!

So many names are thrown at you of who could possibly be Andi’s murderer. Readers will literally have zero clue who could have done it. To be honest, I spent a lot of time jumping for one character to another on who the culprit really was. I loved that I was made to think as I read.

I’m going to apologise to Holly personally since my fangirl self couldn’t help but start shipping Ravi and Pippa! There was something about the gentle jesting they did between one another and they both seemed sassy! The way Ravi called her ‘Sarge’ and how she seemed to keep him on his toes.

If you love teen thrillers, then you need to read this as soon as possible! I love writing reviews of books that surprise me!

Have you read  ‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ by Holly Jackson?

6 Organisational Things To Do At The Start Of Each Month | Blogtober 2019

Can you believe that it’s the start of November next week?! We’re getting so close to 2020 (and being organisational in my new diary!). I always love the start of a month because it’s like a new start every few weeks! Had a bad month in October? November may give you the chance to wipe that slate clean and let you try again. Obviously doesn’t work with everyone but it’s still fun to think!

One thing I always do on the 1st of every month or the 30th/31st is to try and get myself more organised. I do this so I don’t feel any added stress right at the start. Believe me, I get stressed at the tiniest thing.

What organisational things do i need to feel calm?

Set yourself some goals

Goals, goals, goals!! I’m a very goal-orientated person which is probably why I love making lists. Even my blog posts tend to be in a list format! Whoops! There is something about setting goals that makes me feel more in control with my life even when I’m struggling.

I grab my bullet journal and I jot down some bits that I want to work on during the month. That could be losing a few pounds, reading a certain amount of books or even reaching a blog target!

Clean out your bag/purse

They say there is nothing worse than a woman’s handbag and, due to personal experience with my own, it’s true! There are times when my bag literally looks like nothing but a bin, full of tissues, receipts and random stuff that shouldn’t be in there like a sock. That’s why it’s a good routine to get into to clean out both your bag and purse/wallet!

You never know what you might find in there! I’ve discovered all sorts down at the bottom which is both a good thing and a bad thing.

Buy birthday cards

I am SO guilty of missing birthdays!

It isn’t that I purposely forget them because most of the time I’ve written them down! I just get busy with other stuff that the day comes and goes before I’ve realised it. Something that I’m going to be starting in November is I’m buying and writing birthday cards early! That way I can have them ready to go and can post on time!

Wash your sheets

Does anyone else love the feeling of fresh bed linen? There is something so nice about knowing that you are clean and so is your bed! Plus it smells gorgeous too! Depending on how often you like to change your sheets, wash the sheets and pop on something nice and fresh! That reminds me: I really need to buy better looking duvet covers!

Plan some social time

What is a social life? I’ve never had one! Haha.

Now that we have our phones and iPads glued to our hands, we seem to slowly becoming less social offline. I am definitely guilty of this but I’ve never been social. People confuse me and I know that I confuse people! Try to book a few times during the month to hang out with friends and family.

You never know what you have until it’s gone so hold on tight!

Write down any appointments that you have

This, children, is when we get out our colorful pens! That’s what my teacher used to say at nursery. Kind of condesending but I liked my pens! I still do! I know that I will forget a lot of things if I don’t write them down in multiple places. That’s my organisational thing!

If I have any medical appointments or if I want to head to a class, I’ll look at what I’ve put in my phone during last month. I grab my wall calendar (I currently have a Fantastic Beasts one!) and my diary and colour-code everything. I usually go red for medical, blue for blogging, purple for any TV shows and yellow for any birthdays.

I probably have way too much fun for an adult! )By the way, does anyone remember smelly felt-tips?! I think they were Crayola and you could stamp teeny shapes with them!)

What organisational things do you like to do at the start of each month?

Why You Shouldn’t Underestimate A Hufflepuff | Blogtober 2019

a hufflepuff

Last year I let you guys know why I love being a Hufflepuff so much!

There are so many reasons why this House is one of the best at Hogwarts but, for some reason or another, Hufflepuff is seen as one of the weakest. Maybe it’s because the other Houses are described as ‘brave’, ‘wise’ and ‘great’ and we have ‘loyal’.

Well, for this Halloween month, I’m going to tell you why you should never underestimate a Hufflepuff.

We produce wizards and witches you shouldn’t mess with

Gryffindor and Slytherin aren’t the only ones you should place your bets because we have had some incredible people come through. Cedric Diggory was a Triwizard Tournament contest who won against a dragon, saved a friend from mermaids and took on a killer maze.

Nymphadora Tonks became an Auror who consistently put herself in the aim of fire of Deatheaters and criminals. She also started dating and married a werewolf regardless of what he thought.

As for Newt, he has a suitcase with some of the cutest yet most dangerous magical creatures.

We stayed behind to fight alongside gryffindor

This is something that I loved hearing about Hufflepuff from JK Rowling. While the majority of the other Houses escaped while they could, we stayed behind to help defend Hogwarts.

We are loyal to Hogwarts, regardless of it being a castle.

We are near the kitchens

What’s that? You’re peckish and wanted to grab a snack from the Hogwarts kitchens. Oh, and you decided to beat up a Hufflepuff earlier on that day?

Oh dear.

Did you know that the Hufflepuff Common Room is right next to the kitchens? We’re very protective of our own and being loyal/trust-worthy doesn’t mean we don’t defend. Just remember to go to the Hospital Wing when you don’t growing pink hair all over your body.

some of us love our plants

It’s no surprise who are Head of House was. Professor Sprout was a force to be reckoned with and didn’t take kindly to anyone who messed about.

There’s a reason why we have a lot of plants in our Common Room and that’s because we’re meant to be particularly good with them…we’ve secretly adopted Neville! Don’t worry…we won’t set anything nasty on you like Mandrakes or Devil’s Snare. We’re not evil!

Just don’t be alarmed when you suddenly get squirted with Mimbulus Mimbletona pus and smell rancid for a few weeks.

Our House mascot is a badger

We may be a European badger but we don’t have any known predators!

Though other badger species can give as good as they get, especially the honey badger. If you rile them up, they will run at you and give you one heck of a bite. A lot of their prey are venomous and tend to be snakes so…Slytherin, be nice.

Don’t mess with a badger.

What are your thoughts on Hufflepuff being seen as weak?

What Is On My Self-Care List During Autumn & Winter? | Blogtober 2019

Photo by Magda Fou on Unsplash

Now that the days are getting colder and the nights are darker much too quickly, Autumn starts the time of year that I somewhat dread: SAD season. If you don’t know what SAD means, it stands for Season Affective Disorder. Basically a type of depression that comes and goes with the different seasons and pops up for me during Autumn and Winter. Got to love additional depression! That is why it’s very important to self-care during these seasons!

I should practice what I preach more often but I’ve still come up with a list of things that you could do every day to practice self-care and to help ease any symptoms. Not all of them will work since everyone is different but you know know!

Try using an SAD Light

One of the main reasons for this depression is basically because the days are much shorter and the weather is usually pretty shocking. That all means that we don’t get as much sun as we did in Spring and Summer. This is where an SAD Light (£37.45 – £101.45) comes in to give us an extra hand. It’s essentially our own little sun! Safer than a sun-bed since it doesn’t give off anything nasty but still tricks our mood into thinking we’re outside in the sun.

Buy something to make you embrace the season

You don’t have to go big with buying something. This is when you listen to your body and your mind. What makes you feel a little happier during Autumn and Winter? You could buy yourself a new pair of gloves, a scented candle or even a monthly subscription to help a charity! There are so many ways to help you feel.

Bring out your snuggly pyjamas

As soon as I notice how chilly it’s getting, I pull all of my warmer PJs to wear! These are something vital on my self-care list. There is something about getting into these (my favourite top is a scotty dog hoodie) that makes me feel safe and I can hide a way in them if I’m really struggling.

Bake/cook an autumn treat

This is for you, you little chefs and bakers out there! I’m actually planning to try baking something for the first time in my flat and I’m a little nervous! I do love the idea of baking but I’m not really good at it. They say practice makes perfect so what better time to try than when you’re hiding from the bad weather!

Go for a walk and take pictures

Autumn has to be one of the prettiest seasons! You get to see the leaves change from green to yellow to orange and even to red before falling! I guess that’s why Americans call it ‘Fall’…am I right, American friends? We bloggers never need an excuse to take photos of things and I love pictures like these! I even made a board about them!

Stay offline for a day

I’ll admit that this one might be a little tricky since we’re all a little addicted to being online. That sometimes is the problem. We need a chance to step back from the situation and do something else for the day. Whether that’s reading a book, going to the cinema or getting on with something that you’ve been putting off.

Get rid of things you don’t need

We might have cleaning in Spring so we can have decluttering in Autumn! Have a look at your outfits you wear during the warmer months, see what you’re not overly fussed on anymore and take to a charity shop. You can do the same with other items like books, shoes or other accessories. Once you’ve done that, you can tuck away the items you’ve kept until next year.

Decorate your home

If I had the money, I would decorate my flat like those pictures on Pinterest! They look like so much fun and obviously not just for people with kids. You can do as much or as little as you like to get you in the spirit. Part of me would love to get mustard-coloured and blood-orange cushions/blankets, put some pumpkins outside my front door or with an wreath on my door.

Have as many warm drinks as you like

No self-care list of mine would be anything without warm drinks somewhere! I love myself tea any time of the year but this is when I break out my chai tea and hot chocolate! At least I don’t melt drinking them now so woo!

What are you planning to help you practice self-care?

6 Tips For A Happy Indoor Cat | Blogtober 2019

indoor cat

A fact that you might have heard in passing is that black cats are still the most common breed to not be adopted at rescue centres. It’s sad, isn’t it? People seem to carry on having this fear that black cats are unlucky to own. Whereas I did love that Jewel was a black cat, she was more than that. She was an indoor cat that loved to growl at visiting cats to our garden. She hated men and loved to snack on bits of melon.

Yep, you read that right.

I’ve had a couple of friends asking if I didn’t feel a bit guilty for keeping her inside.  I told them that it wasn’t my choice to keep Jewel inside. You basically can’t tell a cat to do anything they don’t want to do. She was like me in the fact that she wasn’t all that interested. She’d go into her garden, patrol that and sleep in the sun but never any further.

Next week will mark a whole year since she joined my parents in Heaven and it’s been a tough one. Since I did have her for over 20 years, I wanted to share some of my kitty wisdom with any others who are looking to get an indoor cat and keep it happy!

01: Listen to your cat

I don’t just mean it yowling at you during the night to feed it or meowing to open the bathroom door. Those you can choose to ignore if you want! I mean listen to its other needs. Once you’ve had your cat for a while, you’ll find yourself falling into something of a routine. That doesn’t mean your cat will pay any attention to yours but they learn to live with it.

If you have a garden that is protected by a fence, don’t be afraid to let them out. It’s always a bit freaky at first because you’re terrified that they’ll run off as soon as your back is turned. Most of the time they just want a bit of air. It can get a little stuffy when you’re indoors for a long time so it’s a nice change of pace for them!

See them eating grass? Don’t stop them!

They’re eating that to help with their digestion and grass is pretty good for them. Though you might not think it when you’re cleaning up after them later.

o2: be mindful of house plants

It’s such an obvious thing but some may not realise how dangerous certain plants can be for any cat. That and how curious they can be to eat them! There’s nothing wrong with wanting to make your home smell and look pretty, but you do have to consider where you put them.

Watch out for these plants in particular: lillies and chrysanthemum. They’re poisonous!

You could try spider plants or even baby rubber plants! They may not look bright but it’s sometimes better to be mindful of your cat rather be deadly.

03: Pick a decent scratching object

Jewel was one of those cats that were particularly stubborn with what she wanted to scratch on. I tried scratching posts, scratching boards and lots of other things but she was always set on destroying my doorframe.

If you’re getting a young cat, try discovering what kind of material that they like to scratch. Since an indoor cat can’t keep their claws sharp and take their claw sheaves off naturally from outside, they need something decent to do it for them in the house. You could have big rope, tight rope, strong fabric…you name it, a cat might scratch it.

You just have to listen like I mentioned earlier. They might scratch because they’re bored,  they might enjoy it (torture is their favourite fun!) or they might even be nervous. Blue Cross has some great tips on understanding cats!

04: Keep them active

Cats can be like children! They love to run around as quickly as they can, sometimes chase their tail and often tripping or falling. They can be a little dim sometimes but you’ve got to love them! One of the problems indoor cats face, other than getting bored, is that they can put on weight easier.

Yeah, literal fat cats!

This gives you permission to buy all the fun toys! You could have one of those fishing rod things with feathers on the end, you could have a specific laser point for cats, you could try a motor mouse for it to chase! There are so many amazing things for them to play with. That or you could just dangle your fingers, watch their bum wiggle and hope you’re fast enough to move your head away in time!

You might need to watch their portion sizes too!

05: Give them a safe place

This one could be used for indoor or outdoor cats when they’re at home.

Now cats are moving onto their teenage stage when they want to ‘go to their room’ and have a place of their own that feels safe and uninvaded. That could be anywhere for a cat since they love to sneak into the smallest of spaces. I once found Jewel in one of my drawers!

You might have to spy on your cat a little bit to see where they love going to but you’ll soon see which places they run to hide in.

A safe space is even more vital when you just moved. Your cat might get overwhelmed by all the new space and the new smells. Find a room that you won’t mind having them in for a while, pop something down that smells of you and give them a little bit to get used to that room. When they feel more comfortable, they’ll come out to explore!

06:  Find a friend (or adopt 2 together)

A cat that doesn’t want to be alone? It’s not a myth. It’s true! Cats actually do get lonely if they’re left on their own for long periods of time. Boredom can be such a pain for them. If you adopt a pair together, see how things go. They might be get on really well and be fine but then they could eventually get sick of each other. This could be the case if they’ve grown up together. You never know what it’s in a cat’s head!

Friends will keep each other company and provide entertainment for the other. Though they could end up being mischeivous so good luck! Haha!

If you’ve got an indoor cat, what advice do you have? If you don’t, would you consider getting one?

What I’m Watching On Netflix This Halloween | Blogtober 2019

this halloween

In a couple of weeks, it’ll soon be Halloween and I know a handful of you will be super excited for everything horror! My days are usually less about the horror and the spooky and more about the ‘How many times is too many to rewatch all of the Harry Potter films?’. It may be a super sad month for us Potterheads but we still love to watch! This Halloween is no different!

I can’t get into the scary side of the holiday but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a few things I’m going to be checking out this Halloween on Netflix! They are great for giving recommendations and I’ve found some amazing TV shows and films this way.

You may notice after this post that I have a strange taste in things I watch! (Don’t send the restraining orders through yet! Haha!)

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

You cannot have a terrifying Halloween without watching Sabrina! I literally adore this show! I admit that I did have my doubts prior to it coming to Netflix since I was a big fan of the original, but this is just everything and more! If you love things that are rather dark and have you on the edge of your seat, then you need to let Kiernan Shipka drag you into the shadows kicking and screaming!

So many of my friends have started to cosplay/dress up as this Sabrina such as Megan Flockhart and Jess Medley! These ladies look stunning!

We may as well carry on with the devil into my next pick! Everyone, meet king of hell Lucifer. Lucifer, you probably know everyone from our nightmares! You think you know what the devil is supposed to be like but you have never met one like the one Tom Ellis plays. You might know Tom from watching Miranda or even from Merlin but I think he really shows what an incredible actor he is in this show!

I will happily watch him every Halloween because he’s not bad on the eye either! Hehe. I won’t say much about what his character is like because that would ruin a few things so…I’ll just leave a gif for you instead!

Forensic Files

Alright…this pick will be a 50/50 for some since it is based on real life events and is true crime. I border on feeling uncomfortable and sad with the fact that these cases were based on people being killed to intrigued on how the police and forensics help solve them and lock away the killer.

I blame my mum for watching this because she was interested in these documentaries and, in turn,  so did I. It’s not fun watching these but sometimes they are perfect to watch at Halloween and teach you some life lessons.

You want to be scared? Goosebumps will do it!

No, not the recent films with Jack Black in them!

The 90s TV show where the title line is “Beware…you’re in for a scare!”. I’m not embarrassed to say that these episodes actually freaked me out enough that I had nightmares from them. It was between this show and another called ‘Are You Afraid of The Dark?’.

The episodes that had me checking everything and anything were ‘Piano Lessons Can Be Murder’, ‘The Haunted Mask’ and ‘It Came From The Kitchen Sink’. I know that the effects were badly done but there is just something about how R.L Stine created these stories that make you uneasy.

Casper is definitely on my films to watch this Halloween! It’s just such a classic! I’ll admit that it did freak me out a fair bit with the vicar and the back-to-front head but that was just typical 90s scare tactics. I was banned initially at school from watching this in class because the teachers believed it was too scary and gory for kids.

Not gory…just freaky!

Plus I kind of had a crush on the guy who played Casper when he became human!

If you want to carry on watching Casper, check out ‘Casper Meets Wendy’ with a teeny Hilary Duff in it! Beyond cheesy and not scary at all but I still love watching it to this day!

So many TV shows and films to watch and I might not have to be all that spooked in the end which is great for me and my anxiety!

What will you be watching this Halloween?
