Review | Heartstopper: Volume 2 by Alice Oseman

It doesn’t matter if Pride Month is well and truly over, you can chat about LGBTQ+ any day and I needed to fangirl over Heartstopper: Vol 2! I’ve seen a few of my friends with copies but I had to wait until I got paid before I could get my own copy and it didn’t disappoint at all! I’ve read nearly all of Alice Oseman’s books and it was such a pleasant surprise when I discovered that she was an amazing artist and had been writing a comic on Tumblr called Heartstopper!

I’ve actually been reading graphic novels for a few years since I’m a big fan of anime and a lot of anime is based off Japanese manga! What is super interesting is that you not only have to read from the back instead of the front and you also read from right to left! Thankfully you don’t have to do that for Heartstopper! Haha! It’s great that books are becoming more visual since you can still how amazing a story by what is drawn and not said aloud.

If you haven’t read Volume 1, then it’s not a disaster since you can kind of pick up what happened but it’s better to because it’s just so adorable!! You get introduced to Nick, Charlie and the rest of the characters (good AND bad). The comic is all in black and white but Alice describes everyone super well and you can also check out her Tumblr or her art instagram to see some coloured drawings!

I adore all of the characters in Heartstopper (except for one particular guy but spoilers!)! Nick is an athletic guy who seems to be pretty popular but is secretly very unsure about himself and trying to discover who is really is. Charlie is beyond relatable…I got bullied a lot at school for how I was and seeing Charlie being targeted made me want to hug him!! Though saying that he isn’t scared of who he is, has incredible friends (Tao, Elle, Darcy and Aled) and fun siblings (Tori and Oliver)! You learn so much about them throughout both Volume 1 and 2!

There are obviously some funny moments but there are some rather dark moments too that make you feel uncomfortable and a little angry.

Alice really seems to love her story and the fact that people want to hear more from the characters! She writes one-off comics that she pops onto her instagram and just gorgeous images like this one of Elle and Darcy!! They’re so cute!!

Some of THE best news that I’ve heard this month is that Heartstopper is going to be turned into a TV show!! I’m so freaking excited about this and I will definitely be creating a post about who I’d love to cast in the show. I know that Alice said that Asa Butterfield is really close to who she imagined for Charlie but he’s obviously too old to play a 15 year so I wonder who would make a great Nick and Charlie! Who would you pick to play these roles?

Have any of you read Heartstopper?
If not, do you think it sounds like a book you’d enjoy?

Why I Choose Not To Drink Alcohol

You’ve read and heard multiple times how I’m socially awkward and very rarely go out with friends. Does that make me seem sad? Probably. Do I mind? Sometimes. That isn’t the reason why I choose to not to drink anything alcoholic. Before anyone says ‘how can you not want to drink if you’ve never drunk alcohol before?’, I have actually had it. I had a couple of drinks on my 18th and 21st. Had one on New Year’s Eve and that’s it.

When it was my 18th birthday, some of the people in my year kept asking why I didn’t go clubbing like the others and, when I did go to a party, why didn’t I drink?

There are a few reasons.

  1. I don’t always like the taste of alcohol
  2. Being the daughter of a nurse, you hear some crazy stories about drunk teens
  3. I don’t like the idea of getting to the point where I forget
  4. I don’t like the thought of being helpless to someone

The main reason?

I just don’t want to. It’s probably a boring reason but it’s an honest one.

I’ve never seen the appeal to drink to crazy levels just so I can have fun. If I’m going to have fun, it’ll be my own means and never normally what others think are fun. While others my age go out to bars or go on holidays and ‘let themselves go’, I prefer to stay at home in my PJs and watch Netflix! Even more so while it’s cold outside! Why should I go out on a freezing cold night when I’ve had to go out on a freezing cold day!

Both parents drank alcohol and they very rarely (if ever) got drunk.

My dad was the parent who would go out to ‘see a man about a dog’ and I always wondered why he never came up with a dog. Obviously this was when I was young and eventually found out that he just went to the pub. Even though my parents drank, they never let me go into a pub. It didn’t matter to them if other people brought their kids in. They didn’t see a pub as the right place to bring a child so they would tag team. Mum would stay outside to play with me and Dad would go in to get drinks and come out to be with us. I can remember one Bonfire Night where I sat outside on the stair outside drinking some Diet Coke just so I could talk to my dad.

I didn’t care. I still had fun in my own way!

A couple of years after my Dad passed away, I could tell that Mum was wanting to go out to have fun. When I say fun, she went out to our local miner’s welfare to play bingo and listen to music. This may make me sound like such a weak teen but I hated the idea of being home alone at night. I didn’t feel safe and I guess I always worried that I would lose another parent if I didn’t see her. I chose to go and stay with one of my old neighbours who let me listen to my Harry Potter audio cassettes and then I moved onto my dad’s old pub. I was at an age where it was okay for me to go in and even then I chose to stay in what was the child area. I was away from smoke and the alcohol. I brought a couple of books and read to any music that was playing. I even became comfortable enough to join in karaoke!

Maybe it’s because of my upbringing or maybe it’s because I’ve never seen the appeal but I just choose not to drink. These days I’ve added another reason to my list and that is because of my medication. Drinking with the pills I’m on would be  a horrendous idea especially with my anti-depressants.

Do you like to go out and drink alcohol? Do you prefer being tee-total?

Why I Find It Easier To Communicate Through Gifs

For as long as I’ve used Twitter, I’ve loved using gifs in my tweets. At first I would get them off Tumblr and then I decided to collect some of my favourites to use whenever I wanted. I have seperate files for different fandoms that I love such as Harry Potter, Merlin, Sherlock and Disney. Yes I’m a little bit extra but I love finding new gifs that I can use. Obviously I use them for fun but I also use them when I can’t think what to say or if I can’t describe how I’m feeling at that minute.

Some don’t always get what I’m trying to say through the gif and then I have friends who get the fandom I’m using and even take part in whole conversations with me only using gifs. The times I’ve been able to do this have been the best and I’ve had more than a couple nights when I’ve just been giggling. I know that not finding it easy to communicate offline with other people but I find it so much easier to do so since people aren’t talking face-to-face and they also follow me because we have the same interests!

I may have many files to choose from but I have a handful of gifs that I love to use for various conversations and over and over!

If anyone has been mean to someone, been particularly dumb or just gotten to me in some way, you’ll see me using this gif from the Philosopher’s Stone. It’s amazing for getting the point across and Hermione just has a way with words!

Luna Lovegood…my spirit animal! I’ve never related so much to a character than I have with Luna. I love this quote from her since it’s the first one that we hear from her in both book and film. If anyone is thinking they’re a bit weird or if they like the same thing as I do, I always use this to try and make them feel better. We might be a little different compared to others but that doesn’t mean we’re alone!

Doctor Who has some incredible quotes people can make gifs on but one of my favourites has to be during David Tennant’s time. The Doctor is in a massive library and describes books as some of the best weapons in the world! I love using this if books/reading are ever judged negatively!

Do you enjoy using gifs in your tweets?

Books Harry Potter

Review | Calling All Witches by Laurie Calkhoven

Calling All Witches

It feels like forever since I last did a book review so here is a brand new one for you, of course, all about Harry Potter called Calling All Witches! Not just Harry Potter for a change but all the females in the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts universe. When I say all the females, I mean ALL OF THEM! Not just the main ones. I saw this book on my wander around Waterstones and fell in love with the illustrations. You could tell they were based off the actresses who played them but there were definitely little differences!

Doesn’t Hermione look beautiful?! You get the name of the character, 3 words to describe them, a quote about that character and then a few paragraphs chatting about more about their journey. I love how there isn’t pages and pages on detail because we already know and love these ladies and so many books are there already with all the detail you can want. Calling All Witches also has little topics you can work on about specific characters such as what you remember and so on!

Luna’s page definitely has to be one of my favourites because it really shows off her style and charm compared to the others. We obviously have a copy of The Quibbler, a thestral (because that’s how she and Harry really start to connect), some Spectospecs, her cork charm to keep away the Nargles and Ravenclaw’s diadem which is a Horcrux! I think the Ginny page up above describes more the book version rather than the film version but that’s just my opinion! Haha!

I love that we got to see Laurie’s take on how the more minor characters looked if they weren’t featured more in the films such as Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw! Helga looked so sweet and Rowena so radiant! We also got to see more of Alice Longbottom, Lily Potter and Bunty (from Fantastic Beasts!). I wish we could have seen more of them but I will happily accept their little mentions in this!

What are your thoughts on Calling All Witches and who is your favourite witch in the series?

Dealing With Grief Through A Memory Bear

Memory Bear

This is a post that I’ve been 50/50 about posting due to it being a little morbid and others may think that I’m weird to have this if they don’t understand. I actually remember Shane Dawson mentioning this in one of his creepy videos and him saying that it was creepy to own. That said, there are so many people who may love one of these so I’m going to talk about my memory bear. I will be talking about death and cremation so this is my trigger warning for you!

Let me take you back to the beginning.

It was a few days before my Mum’s funeral and I was really struggling with the idea that I wouldn’t get to be with her anymore. It had been difficult losing my dad and knowing that he was going to be cremated (even though I knew that he wasn’t there properly anymore and that he’d gone to be with my grandparents), but the part I had had rode the shoulders of and hugged when I was upset was still there. I know it sounds a little silly but I was only 14 at the time and it was my first experience with the Chapel of Rest.

Before Mum passed, she had already made it clear that she wanted her own ashes to be mixed up with my dad. I totally understood why and was determined to do that for her. What you might not know about cremation is that the urn your loved one isn’t in a nice teeny tube. It’s in a massive pot and really heavy! One is bad but try having both your parents in one bag! I actually found myself visiting my local Co-Op because there was a lady called Maria there who was the loveliest person and made me a cup of tea when I came to chat about Mum’s funeral.

Mum had made the funeral process super easy for me since we had spoken openly about what she wanted over the years and vice versa. I was so happy that I got to make things happen for her. She wanted it to be a celebration of her life so I had her entering to ‘Another One Bites the Dust’ since she loved Queen and thought it was hilarious since she was being cremated. During one of my chats with Maria, I spoke about the fact that I would miss my Mum’s hugs (she gave the best!) and she said that it was one of the biggest things mentioned by those who had lost a loved one. That was why the Co-Op made it possible to get a Memory Bear! It is pretty pricey but it is so worth it!

I didn’t ask about how the ashes were transferred into the bear because I didn’t want to know but they’re in there! The amount of times I’ve hugged this little bear is off the chart. Whenever I’ve been really struggling, missing my parents or just needed comfort that only a parent could give after a long day, I hugged. Personally I actually sleep with it beside me. Morbid I know but it’s just reassuring for me. Every one is different!

What do you think about Memory Bears? Would you ever get one?

The Original Youtubers That I Loved

original youtubers

Everyone has heard of Youtube and even have youtubers that they love watching. I’m throwing back, people!! I’m going all the way into the past to the original youtubers that I couldn’t wait to watch when I came home. Oh, it was a very different place to what it is now. There were less people to compare yourself to, you could do video responses and more cat videos! Haha! I’ve actually been on the site for around 11 years and have been one and off with it. Still loved watching so here are some Youtubers that I adored! Oh and thanks whereslugo for today’s picture!

Charlie! This was a Charlie long before ‘Charlie bit my finger’! This nerdy Brit is Charlie McDonnell aka charlieissocoollike! I can still remember his intro tune after all these years! I thought he was incredible! He was so funny, different and he came up with this most random content that I couldn’t help but smile at. There was another video that I watched which was my first ever one to watch but it’s not there anymore so here is the 2nd! Such a fun duet! He was even the first ever original Youtuber that got to 1 million subscribers!! He’s still making videos but he lives in Canada now and hasn’t uploaded in 7 months! *sniffle*

beckie0 | beckiejanebrown

I still love Beckie to this date!! She’s been vlogging for so many years and has developed so much! I started watching her when she was in her early teens and now I think she’s 25! It’s crazy! She did Doctor Who skits, vlogs about her life, twin editing (they were so cool!) and spoke bravely about her Trichotillomania. You can tell she tries to balance a life online with privacy but some trolls just don’t take the hint! If you love a Youtuber with a difference, Beckie would be great for you!

Why did these girls leave me?! *sob* I adored all 5 of these ladies and I’m still following Kristina, Hayley, Kayley and Lauren on social media! (Sorry Lianne!). They were everything the original youtubers stood for: being themselves, being funny, declaring what they loved to everyone and of course…awful camera/sound quality! I watched them every week back in 2009 and get so much nostalgia when I hear the old intro! Who else adored these girls?!

CTFXC (Charles Trippy and Allie)

Wow…has this guy been through a lot over the last 10+ years!

He literally vlogged every single day for 10 whole years! Not 1 break! Not even when he was having brain surgery! He got the surgery staff to film it! Charles is so real about what he’s thinking, very funny, has amazing dogs called Zoey, Marley and Diesel and a stunning wife! He’s doing chemotherapy at the minute and recently had another seizure (after almost a year without).

Which original youtubers did you used to watch back in the day?

My Visit To Los Angeles And One Last Memory

Los Angeles

If you’re new to my blog then you won’t know that around 3 years ago I had the chance to go on holiday to Los Angeles!! It had been on my wishlist for so many years and when I was told that we were going, you can imagine my excitement! What I didn’t know was that this would be my last ever holiday with my mum and the last chance for us to be ‘normal’. Since it’ll have been 3 years this Monday, I thought I’d share some of the random photos I took!

As you can guess, this post will be pretty photo-heavy so I hope you’re ready for my awful photography!

We were going to Los Angeles for about 10 days and staying at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. If you don’t know where that is, it’s actually in Beverly Hills and right opposite Rodeo Drive! I can already hear my fashion friends going slightly nuts! It was as gorgeous as you can imagine and dogs…lots of little dogs!

We flew with Virgin Atlantic and, since we were going over on my mum’s birthday, I decided to treat her to a surprise. Virgin lets you do something called a ‘First Class’ experience where you get to use the Upper Class Lounge for around £50! As well as that you get to get driven from your hotel to the upper class entrance, get whisked through security and basically get pampered!

I think deep down Mum knew something was happening with her because she literally put everything into this holiday including letting us fly Premium Economy! Not quite Economy/Coach and not as high as First Class but in the middle. You get more room, proper cutlery to use and a drink before take-off. To me, that is luxury! The picture above was taken by my mum and you can just see her in the reflection of my glasses! I never realised she had held my camera is such a weird way! Haha! Oh and LOOK AT THIS TEENY ICE LOLLY!!

Los Angeles

I’ll be honest with you…I was actually a little scared of staying in this part of Los Angeles. Not that I thought it was dangerous or anything but purely because I felt too ugly and plain to be seen walking around there. We’ve all seen the big celebs with their security and bags on arm walking from Chanel or Gucci. Can you really picture me in any of those high-end stores?! I could but only for a second. It made my first day on holiday a little awkward since I was expecting the whole ‘Pretty Woman’ stuck-up nose treatment. In reality, people were SUPER friendly! I didn’t get bad looks. I was told where to go to find Sephora and the girls in Burberry and Chanel were so nice.

Can you guess what the picture down below is?

This, my dear reader, is their take on afternoon tea! First off…look at the size!! I literally stared at everything! You had cranberry scones on the bottom, cakes in the middle, tarts and every teeny dessert that you could ask for! We got some tea (they brought honey to put in) and a glass of champagne. There was something quite powerful about being able to sit in front of your hotel with all these people, not knowing if you were sitting next to an actor or a producer! (Fun fact: I did get to sit next to a producer of the Big Bang Theory! Haha!)

The Beverly Wilshire was everything we had been expected and more! Nothing was a bother to the staff and they made us feel really welcome. It felt as if we were visiting family! They chatted to us about the most random things, gave us helpful tips on where to go and what to try, gave Mum amazing assistance when they knew she was disabled and that it was her birthday and so much more! They had a complimentary driver who drove you wherever you wanted to go for free and, if you rang, they would come and pick you up. It was a true red carpet experience! The rooms were super comfortable with their massive beds, a balcony where you could see the Hollywood sign and dressing gowns you could use!

Los Angeles

I think I may have almost cried when I saw this right in front of me! For anyone that doesn’t know, the Dolby Theatre is where the Academy Awards are based! I didn’t care if I couldn’t get inside or anything. Being able to be there was enough and I got to see the Hollywood Walk of Fame too! There were quite a few names that I had never heard of but I guessed that they were from old Hollywood!

I got to be one of those tourists you see on the bus with their camera out going ooh…ahh! It was a lot of fun but couldn’t sit up on the top. It was way too hot!! On a few of the days there it was 42 degrees! It was bad enough that the people of LA had to see a sweaty Daisy but they didn’t need to see a crispy one too!

As an actress who is really interested in the film industry and how things work behind the scenes, I knew I had to visit one of the studios! It was Hollywood! I couldn’t not! Between Mum and I, we chose to visit Warner Bros Hollywood! These guys brought the Harry Potter films to life and so many other films and TV shows! You were given the chance to get into a golf cart and were taking around some of the sets that have been used and past some studios that still get used! I went by where they had filmed Friends (the place even has a plaque to remember!) and I got to look around the place where Ellen is filmed!

This was such an incredible experience! Seeing everything around me was so surreal and the guide that took us round was really friendly and you could tell how passionate she was about film. I remember she loved the fact that we were British and we actually got chatting about Harry Potter! I’ve just seen that the tour has a Wizarding World experience where you can see some of the costumes from the films and even pretend to get sorted with the actual Sorting Hat! As well as that they have Fantastic Beasts too!

It might come as surprise but one of the reasons I took this picture of The Viper Room was because of Jemma (Dorkface)! I can’t even remember why but I do remember that she was a reason! The other was because I’d heard so many stories of a film actor called River Phoenix who had passed away there. It was such a famous spot and I was quite proud of myself for taking this from a moving tour bus!

The tour took us around the hills of Beverly Hills showing us all the famous spots, some of the houses of celebs such as Reese Witherspoon, Gwen Stefani and even the old houses of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe!

I really want to go back to Los Angeles in the next couple of years so I can relive some of these memories, visit Universal Studios and see the Wizarding World! Nothing wrong with seeing one in Orlando and LA, right? If I win the lottery, I’ll let you know! I’m so glad that I got to experience all of these memories with Mum especially since she seemed to really enjoy the chance to relax, get looked after and sample bits of the high life! We loved the Cheesecake Factory and made friends with one of the staff who even bought me a lip gloss that she had been wearing and I’d admired!

Have you ever visited Los Angeles? What would you love to see when you’re there?

What Is On My Reading List/TBR (July 2019)

Reading list

A new month means a new reading list full of YA books that I’m super excited to read! I’m particularly happy with this month’s selection because my local library has outdone themselves with new books! You should have seen my face when I saw Dear Evan Hansen on the shelf after being told that it wasn’t even in our county a few weeks ago. I don’t like my reading list to be too long or reading becomes a chore.

Diary of a young girl (anne frank)

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read Anne Frank’s diary over the years! My RE teacher at school really opened my eyes about the Holocaust and to Anne and her family. We visited The Holocaust Centre where we got to listen to a talk from an actual survivor and the centre itself, while sad, is so relaxing. The garden is gorgeous and there is a little hill of stones where people have placed a stone as a tribute. I might have to visit again and do a post about it! There is something so special about Anne’s story. How she went from a normal life to one of terror and fearing that she could be discovered at any moment.

All that said, she was so strong! I admire her intelligence, her confidence and her outlook regardless of what she has been put through! I really want to visit the Annex in Amsterdam to both pay my respects but also to see for myself where she was.

Field Notes On Love (Jennifer E. Smith)

A cross-country train trip with a complete stranger might not seem like the best idea. But to Mae and Hugo, both eager to escape their regular lives, it makes perfect sense. What starts as a convenient arrangement soon turns into something more. But when life outside the train catches up with them, can they find a way to keep their feelings for each other from getting derailed?

You know when you need that kind of book that has romance, adventure and trying to discover yourself? Yeah…I think that may be this book. I really loved the sound of the plot when I read the back. A guy being dumped after booking a massive trip before university started and he ends up having to try and find a girl with the same name who wants to take the spare ticket. I’ve never read any of Jennifer’s books so can’t wait to read her style!

Birthday (Meredith Russo)

I had to show a picture of this book because LOOK AT IT! This has to be one of my favourite designs that I’ve had for a long time! It’s so cute and colourful and, seeing as it’s LGBTQ+, the rainbow is perfect! I’m definitely purchasing my own copy of this next week but for now we have this library copy!

Meet Morgan and Eric: born on the same day, at the same time and bonded for life. In this moving dual narrative, we meet them every birthday from the age of thirteen, as Eric figures out who he is, as Morgan decides to live as her true self, and as they realize they are inextricably part of each other.

This plot is such an interesting concept. Two people born on the same day and same time. I don’t know exactly what makes this LGBTQ+ but I’m wondering if Morgan is transgender. Just a feeling though! I’ll give a better idea when I review it!

Only love can break your heart (Katherine Webber)

Reiko loves the endless sky and electric colours of the Californian desert. It is a refuge from an increasingly claustrophobic life of family pressures and her own secrets. Then she meets Seth, a boy who shares a love of the desert and her yearning for a different kind of life. But Reiko and Seth both want something the other can’t give them. As summer ends, things begin to fall apart. But the end of love can sometimes be the beginning of you…

The first line of this synopsis is actually what made me want to read. The choice of words like ‘endless sky’ and ‘electric colours’ painted an amazing image in my head and I just had to read the rest after that! This is a different kind of book to what I usually read but sometimes you just have to have a break-up book on your reading list!

A Pinch of Magic (Michelle Harrison)

Three sisters trapped by an ancient curse.
Three magical objects with the power to change their fate.
Will they be enough to break the curse?
Or will they lead the sisters even deeper into danger? …

The description of this book may be super short but it says all that it needs to! This needs to be turned into a film or a show because it sounds like it has everything you could need! You guys know I can never ignore a book about magic and this sounds like a dark Disney plot but I’m only guessing from what you see above! Think I’ll be reading this on a dull day!

Dear Evan Hansen (Val Emmich)

When a letter that was never meant to be seen draws high school senior Evan Hansen into the Murphy family’s grief over the loss of their son, he is given the chance of a lifetime: to belong.

He just has to stick to a lie he never meant to tell.
That the notoriously troubled Connor Murphy was his secret best friend.

Suddenly, Evan isn’t invisible anymore. And Connor’s wealthy parents have taken him in like he was their own, desperate to know more about their enigmatic son from his ‘closest friend’.

As Evan gets pulled deeper into their family, he knows that what he’s doing may not be right, but if he’s helping people, how wrong can it be?

It might sound crazy but I haven’t heard any of the songs from the musical of this or seen it but I have heard some amazing things about it! That and the guy that played Evan on Broadway (Ben Platt) loves Harry Potter and is a Hufflepuff so that got my interest! Haha! I know what it’s like to want to be wanted. I know nothing of the plot or what happens between Evan and Connor so I’ll be listening to the soundtrack while reading this! Wish me luck!

What is on your reading list this July?

What Are My Social Media Peeves?

social media

These days social media is a massive thing to a lot of people! It’s important to bloggers, our readers and companies alike! There are loads of different sites: you have Twitter, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, Snapchat, TikToc, Tumblr and more. Social media lets you reach so many people from all over the world and I do adore that but I do have a few peeves that make using it annoying sometimes.

the comparison factor

Ahh! This is one giant peeve! I compared myself to others long before social media was a thing but now it’s a big problem especially to children and teens. They see their favourite celebs/vloggers/bloggers posting what seems like such a perfect life and look that they can’t help but compare what their life looks like. They don’t always realise that what they’re seeing has been edited into such a way that it looks perfect. It can really play upon the mental health of kids and I hate that. I’m trying to not be as triggered by what I can’t be but focus on what I can.

Fake accounts/bots

Whoever started with the first ever fake account should’ve been banned for life! Fake accounts and bots are a nightmare to deal with! As a blogger you’re constantly trying to build your online presence and reach actual people who want to read/watch! However we get hassled by these fake accounts. You look at your follower count, get excited when you see it has gone up and then see it go down almost immediately. They ask follow for a follow, random comments that make actually no sense and are even sometimes gross porn accounts. Ew.

triggering images/videos

This is a sad peeve since it has actually involved me muting some friends in the past. I totally understand why people want to either want to share or comment on something that they feel passionate about, but I think they sometimes forget that they may trigger others.

I’ve seen pictures or clips online of some horrendous things such as animal abuse and they have sent me offline. Along with that you can also get posts where someone has added a trigger warning (which is greatly appreciated!) at the start but immediately get into the topic. This is usually around mental health. I love the fact that people are talking more openly about it but…yeah. I’ve now muted the words that trigger me in hopes I don’t see any of this.

I ask myself every day why not more is done to prevent these people being online. They are some of the worst types of people and they don’t care. The trolls that find one of your posts and immediately start bullying, leaving awful comments about the way you look, wishing you the most horrific death in detail and doing everything they can to push you over the edge for fun. You then have perverts. I’ve been doing my best to avoid these guys and it helps that I’m not interesting at all, but I’ve recently seen some of my friends being targeted such as HelloMissJordan and FromSarahLex!

I do have so many other social media peeves but I thought I’d let you leave before you have me ranting for hours. I’d love for you to share what annoys the heck out of you about social media whether it’s through working on it professionally, blogging or just in general!

What are your top peeves?

What I’m Currently Loving On Netflix

Ever since my TV died after 19 years (take a moment to mourn…), I of course headed over to Netflix to keep me entertained! There are so many shows and films on there that you literally could never get bored! You’ve got your cheesy chic-flicks, your Korean dramas, your historical programmes and the kid section! Yes, I do spend quite a lot of time in the kid section because they have a load of incredible shows! That said, I thought I’d put my grown-up hat on and give you an idea of what I’ve been watching and loving!

Good Witch (S1-4)

This show! THIS SHOW!! I’ve loved the main character Cassie Nightingale ever since I watched the films! This whole idea came from a set of books which were turned into films and then into a Netflix show! Catherine Bell (who plays Cassie) is just perfect! It’s all about a woman called Cassie who isn’t quite what she seems. In other words, she’s a witch. She has a bed and breakfast called The Grey House where she lives with her daughter Grace (Bailee Madison) who happens to share the same gift. I don’t know how the writes do it but I’m always left with a warm, fuzzy feeling after every episode!

You might recognise Bailee from a film called The Bridge to Terebithia! She was the adorable little sister! If you love magic and warm fuzzies, you have to watch!

Glee (S1-6)

I have never been so happy to see a TV show on Netflix than I was when I heard Glee was being added! It’s been so long since I’ve had the chance to sit down and watch all the seasons! As a theatre girl, I adore all the singing and the choreography and Rachel Berry! Haha! There is a bunch to love about Glee so we get to sit back and be entertained by the New Directions!

I also love how Glee is able to represent so many different kinds of people from LGBTQ+ to disabilities. I adored Becky! She was a cheerleader with Down’s Syndrome and always helped the Coach with some of her schemes! Her attitude! Oof!

Life In The Dog-House

Okay…this isn’t a TV show as such but it is a documentary about how two gay men turned their house into a giant dog rescue and let 71 dogs live there! Just like they would in a normal home! No kennels…just love! I haven’t watched the entire thing but it was so lovely to watch and perfect for all the dog lovers out there!

Anne With A ‘E’

Here is one of the historical shows I love! The series is based off the book ‘Anne of Green Gables’ (a classic!) and follows a 13 year old girl called Anne Shirley! She is such a fiesty character who talks way too much and stands her ground. All that said, she just wants a home and doesn’t want to be sent back to the orphanage which she had lived. I actually follow Amybeth McNulty (Anne) on Instagram and she’s so funny! There are only 2 seasons right now but hopefully it will be picked up again by Netflix for more!

Heartland (S1-12)

I have an interesting relationship with this! Before it was ever a TV show, it was a book series that I loved growing up! I have adored horses for so many years and even took up riding for a while. This series had everything from drama to romance to the most beautiful settings and, of course, horses! The main character Amy is very passionate about horses and lives on a ranch called Heartland that is a sort of refuge for injured or traumatised horses. Quite a few things happen in the show so if you love everything equine (Daisy knows a smart term!), you need to watch!

Departures/Then came you

This film broke me. It broke me into tiny, itty bitty pieces and then crushed them under its foot. It’s hilarious and you know it would since it has Asa Butterfield (he was in Merlin and Sex Education) and Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones). It follows a guy called Calvin who is the biggest hypochondriac known to mankind. He literally thinks he has everything under the sun and is constantly at his doctors being checked out. That is until he meets a girl called Skye who he discovers has terminal cancer. I’ll let you watch the film because this plot does nothing to describe the awesomeness of the cast and the film!

What have you been watching on Netflix lately?
